Our History
Patterson, Flynn & Martin was established in 1943, a successor to the the Persian Rug Manufactory, an American company that sourced a wide variety of floorcoverings from Europe. The company developed an early reputation for superior quality with its authentic reproductions of traditional European designs from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, as well as classic dhurries and kilims. Patterson, Flynn & Martin was well known for its collections of fine three quarter European wilton carpets.
When
F. Schumacher & Co. acquired Patterson, Flynn & Martin in 1998, the two companies worked in harmony to preserve the quality of PFM's products and its exceptional service, while expanding the diversity of the brand's offerings. This cultivated an exclusive selection of custom hand-tufted rugs, custom flat-weaves, specialty textile rugs and a wide array of unique constructions.
